What should I do if I need to serve legal documents?

What happens when you cannot succeed in serving the legal document on the respondent?
If we are unable to serve your documents to the respondent on our first attempt, we will make another attempt to serve your documents again at a different time of day. If we are not able to get the defendants served after three attempts, you may opt to request an affidavit of attempted service.
You will then be required to return to court and let the judge know that the process server was unable to serve your documents on the respondents. There are many reasons as to why a process server is unable to serve documents, such as not available at time of service, the defendants may have moved, be on vacation or the may even try to avoid service of your documents. You may ask the court to allow you to serve them by by substitution service alternative service.
